Morocco will be looking to keep their hopes of reaching a first FIFA World Cup since 1998 alive when they host Togo in Rabat on Saturday (kick-off 18h00 GMT).

With just one point from two Group A matches to date, their qualification campaign is faltering and yet more dropped points from Roger Lemerre’s side could be decisive for their chances.

Togo also have just a win and a loss to their name, and know that it is now or never if they are to mount a serious challenge for a place in South Africa, but in this tough Group A, they may be better securing an Africa cup of Nations place in Angola first.

Lemerre would have been pleased with the away drawn in Cameroon in early June, but knows that home form is crucial and following the opening round defeat at the hands of Gabon in March, the Atlas Lions have lost ground already.

Morocco made the head-to-head between these two with three wins to Togo’s two (two matches drawn), while the Togolese will be hoping for a repeat of the last meeting, a 1-0 friendly win in Rouen, France, in 2005.

Defeat here would also seriously hamper Morocco’s chances of winning a place at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, with current bottom side Cameroon likely to pick up their form.
